Guide to Finding Your Ring Size Using a Piece of Paper and a Ruler
Finding your ring size at home is easy with just a piece of paper and a ruler. Follow these simple steps to get an accurate measurement.
Materials Needed:
- A strip of paper (about 1 cm wide and 10 cm long)
- A ruler (preferably one with millimeter markings)
- A pen or pencil
Steps:
-
Cut the Paper Strip:
- Cut a strip of paper that is about 1 cm wide and 10 cm long. Ensure the edges are straight for accurate measurement.
-
Wrap the Paper Around Your Finger:
- Wrap the strip of paper around the base of the finger you want to measure. Ensure it’s snug but not too tight; it should fit comfortably.
-
Mark the Paper:
- Use the pen or pencil to mark the point where the end of the paper strip overlaps itself. This mark indicates the circumference of your finger.
-
Measure the Paper Strip:
- Lay the strip of paper flat and use the ruler to measure the distance from the start of the strip to the mark you made. Record this measurement in millimeters (mm).
-
Determine Your Ring Size:
- Use the measurement you recorded to find your ring size. You can refer to the chart below to convert the circumference to your ring size.

Tips for Accurate Measurement:
- Measure at the end of the day: Your fingers are typically larger at the end of the day.
- Consider the knuckle: If your knuckle is much larger than the base of your finger, measure both the knuckle and the base, and choose a size in between.
- Repeat for Accuracy: Measure your finger a few times to ensure the result is consistent.
By following these steps, you can accurately determine your ring size at home. If you're still unsure, many jewellers offer free ring sizing, and you can confirm your size with them.
